Unity

 A Perfect World for Students with Disabilities

Unity is an organization, for students with and without disabilities, that promotes disability awareness and education on campus as well as disability-related service within the community. In addition, Unity seeks to create a forum, which allows members to appreciate their differences and to celebrate diversity throughout OSU. Unity sponsors a variety of activities throughout the year, including ongoing community service projects as well as social, educational, and awareness events. Sponsored in conjunction with the Office for Disability Services, Disability Awareness Month is one of Unity’s biggest projects.

Many events are planned for the month of April including speakers, entertainment, adapted sports, and an art exhibit. If you are interested in joining Unity or would like more information, please contact the Unity President, Karla Kmetz at kmetz.7@osu.edu or the Unity advisor, Caity McCandless at mccandless.8@osu.edu.

The mission of the student organization Sports F.U.S.I.O.N. is to provide Ohio State students with and without disabilities the Information, Opportunities and Accommodations to fully participate in recreational programs at The Ohio State University. Our vision is that all Ohio State students, with various levels of ability, will be knowledgeable about and feel comfortable participating in the wide array of activities from rock climbing and open rec basketball to indoor and outdoor group activities designed to be demonstrative and will let students experience new and familiar sports.  Participation through Recreational Sports Programming, including cardio and weight training, team sports, fitness classes and aquatics, will be encouraged, and opportunities to participate will be provided.

The Sports F.U.S.I.O.N. group values diversity, along with the long-lasting physical and mental benefits of maintaining an active lifestyle and socializing with fellow students. Another important purpose of the group is for students to have FUN engaging with their peers in an inclusive, relaxed setting.
