The following is information concerning scholarships that are available for students with disabilities at The Ohio State University.  Scholarship applications are available NOW.  Applications must be submitted to ODS by April 13, 2007.  Scholarship recipients will be notified after the April 13th and recognized at the ODS Recognition Reception on April 20, 2007.

Please read below to find out if you qualify for any scholarships.  Application forms are available online by clicking the links in the scholarship descriptions. Each online form is available in two formats: an editable WORD form (that you can edit in MS WORD and print) and a PDF form (that you can print and fill out by hand).  Just click on the link and the form will open in a new window.

                                                 Remember, the deadline to submit applications is April 13, 2007!




1.  The Ohio Lions Foundation Helen Keller Scholarship


The Ohio Lion's Foundation awards four $2,750 scholarships.

 

Eligibility Criteria:          1. Visual Disability
                                    2. Attend OSU
                                    3. Ohio Resident

 

To apply, submit a competed application form, a copy of your college transcript, and a one to two page personal essay. The transcript does not need to be an official transcript.

2. The Ohio State University Charles W. Medick Scholarship


The number of scholarships and the monetary values vary each year.

Eligibility Criteria:          1. Visual Disability
                                   2. Attend OSU


To apply, submit a competed application form, a copy of your college transcript, and a one to two page personal essay. The transcript does not need to be an official transcript.

Anna Sborowitz Scholarship


The number of scholarships and their monetary values vary each year.

Requirements:       1. Physical Disability (severe limitations in movement or use of one or more extremities)
                            2. Enrolled in 7 or more credit hours
                            3. Attend OSU

To apply, submit a competed application form, a copy of your college transcript, and a one to two page personal essay describing your disability and how it has changed your perspective as a student. The transcript does not need to be an official transcript.

4.  The William and Francis Smith Junk Endowed Award


The number of scholarships and their monetary values vary each year .


Eligibility Criteria:          1. Physical Disability

                                    2. Attend OSU

                        3. Resident of Creative Living

 

Preference is given to students who demonstrate academic ability and financial need.

To be considered, a student must write a personal statement, which includes background, achievements, goals and needs. The personal statement should be placed in the MAIL-IN box at either Creative Living complex.
