April is Disability Awareness Month! The Office for Disability Services and UNITY are proud to celebrate Disability Awareness Month by sponsoring the following activities:

 


 

Monday – April 9th  Movie Night - featuring “Radio”. From www.imdb.com: “The story of a high school coach and the developmentally challenged man whom he took under his wing. Starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.”. Showing at Hagerty Hall Rm. 180.   Show starts at 6PM!



Monday – April 16th
ODS Assistive Technology Training Center Open House - Faculty and Staff can visit the ODS computer lab in Room 102 Pomerene Hall and enjoy demonstrations of the latest in assistive technology computer software and hardware. Open house will be from 9:00am-11:00am.


 

Monday – April 23rd Working to Stop Relationship Abuse - Dr. Louise Douce of Counseling and Consultation Services will speak about the campus and university community’s program and initiatives to help end relationship abuse.  For more information on the program prior to this event, visit www.itsabuse.com. Event will be held in the conference room in 102 Pomerene Hall from 12Noon-1pm.



Thursday – April 26th
Sign Language 101 for Educators - Professors, Adjuncts, and TA’s are welcome to joins ODS for a brown bag event that will give you an opportunity to learn basics of American Sign Language that may be useful across different situations and ALSO to talk about what you can expect when you have a Deaf/ Hard of Hearing student in your class.  Previous sign language skills are not necessary! Event will be held in the ATTC Computer Lab conference room in 102 Pomerene Hall from 12Noon-1pm

 



Friday – April 27th  Wheelchair Basketball. This will be an open gym wheelchair basketball game for faculty, staff, and students with or without a disability who want to participate. Wheelchairs will be provided by Adapted Rec Sports! 
The game starts at 11am and will end at 2pm at the ground floor gym at the RPAC.
