2. Federal Internship Interviews on January 29th! Schedule Yours Now!
Willisa Donald from the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is coming to ODS on Tuesday, January 29th, 2007. She will be interviewing students for internship positions within the Federal government and private sector. The WRP is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal sector employers nationwide with highly motivated postsecondary students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. A sign up sheet is also on Chris’s office door for those who would like to walk-in to sign up for an interview time slot. 3. ODS Online Student Satisfaction Survey To Open January 22nd!
The annual ODS Online Survey will be launched Tuesday, January 22nd. Designed to give ODS students a quick, easy and anonymous way to provide ODS with feedback, the survey is used to help ODS assess and improve services. Also, by completing the survey, you can enter a raffle for one of two $50 prizes! ODS values your feedback – we hope that you are able to take a few minutes to tell us what you think.

4. NIB Fellowship Applications Are Now Being Accepted!
The Fellowship for Leadership Development, sponsored by the National Industries for the Blind (NIB), is a two-year, salaried program that combines business-focused, on-the-job experience with formal management training. Legally blind individuals who have an
undergraduate degree, work experience, desire to travel and passion to become a business leader are invited to apply. Fellows are selected by a committee based on academic achievement, experience, motivation, references, personal interviews and other supporting data.

5. Scholarship program through The Council of Citizens with Low Vision!

On behalf of the Council of Citizens with Low Vision International, We announce our CCLVI Scholarship Program. Three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 a piece will be awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Council of Citizens with Low Vision International (CCLVI) will award three scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to entering freshmen, undergraduate and graduate college students who are visually impaired, maintain a strong GPA and are involved in their school/local community.
Applications may be submitted beginning January 1st and all materials must be received by March 1st. Scholarship monies will be awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year.

6. Registrar Announces Winter Quarter Deadline Adjustments!
In light of the somewhat shorter quarter, and particularly with only a two-day first week, the following deadline adjustments for WI08 have been approved:
§ The Third Friday academic deadlines (Last day to drop without a W, last day to register for audit, last day to register for P/NP) will be moved from Friday (1/18) to Friday (1/25). This will provide a better opportunity for students to have sufficient academic feedback before making these decisions.
§ The Seventh Friday academic deadline (Last day to drop/withdraw without petitioning) will move from Friday (2/15) to Friday (2/22).
7. Sphinx Senior Class Honorary Seeks Applicants for the Organization!
My name is Abbie Brown and I am the Sergeant At Arms for the 102nd Class of Sphinx Senior Class Honorary. Since its inception, SPHINX remains one of the most prestigious honoraries at The Ohio State University. Ohio State students and alumni hold SPHINX in high esteem and respect. SPHINX members and alumni carry out the traditions of
SPHINX and represent the pride of The Ohio State University. The objectives of SPHINX, as established by its founders in 1907, are:

8. The PGA Tour Diversity Internship Program for 2008!
Multiple Internships are Available!
The PGA TOUR recognizes the need to continually identify talented individuals to work at the PGA TOUR and other organizations within the golf industry. Our objective is simple - find the best student applicants and place them in challenging internship opportunities to prepare them for a position within the PGA TOUR or the golf industry.
The TOUR's Diversity Internship Program is open to all students regardless of race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, age, national origin, or disability. We encourage students to apply as the PGA TOUR seeks to enrich the internship and workplace through diversity. The ability to play golf or knowledge of the game is not required for most positions.
The majority of the internships are available during the summer and are located at PGA TOUR Headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. or at our tournament sites located in other cities including Atlanta, Baltimore, New York, Tucson, and Sonoma, CA. Internships may lead to employment at the TOUR or with other golf organizations depending on position availability.
What do we look for?
1. Well rounded students with a successful academic record
2. Diverse work and volunteer experience
3 All undergraduate and graduate majors are considered, but mainly Business Administrators, Communications/Journalism/TV Production, Sports Management, Information Systems, Legal, and Hospitality.
Requirements:
1. Students must have completed their Sophomore year prior to starting an internship.
2. Minimum GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale).
3. Be currently attending an accredited College or University and in good standing when applying.
4. Eligible to work in the United States. International students must obtain all required work visas prior to beginning an internship.

The Eighth Annual Multiple Perspectives on Access, Inclusion & Disability Conference is seeking undergraduate and graduate student research; performance, writing, visual art; or applied and community service projects for a poster session and reception on Tuesday April 22, 2008. Posters that relate to this year's conference themes "looking back and thinking ahead" will be given preference in the review process.
Posters can take several forms:
· Print material mounted on poster board or display panels or arranged on a table

· Presentation materials must fit on a 3’x6’ table or along 6’ or less of wall space

Posters are being solicited to represent the broad interdisciplinary approaches to disability at the undergraduate and graduate level in four categories:

Students and teams of students who wish to present a poster display of their project must send the following information to ADA-OSU@osu.edu by March 21, 2008:

· Description of their proposed poster (50 to 500 words)

10. WrightChoice, Inc. Accepting Applications for Pre-Professional Law Program!

The summer of 2008, WrightChoice will host a six week program that allows college minority students and students with disabilities that are interested in going to law school an opportunity to shadow lawyers and/or judges in various practice areas and courts. Through the program, students will receive an opportunity to experience the legal profession and mentors will have a chance to groom future leaders. Program Goals:
In this program, six students interested in pursuing a career in law will be chosen to rotate among corporate law firms, public interest law service providers, state trial courts, and state legal agencies for a six week period, allowing students to observe and be exposed to various types of law including, but not limited to, business (transactional), labor/employment, general litigation, domestic relations, government/ public sector, criminal, and general practice. Every two weeks, students will come together to discuss their placement experiences in the various rotation locations and any pre-conceived notions they had prior to their assignment. Along with the group discussion, students will also have the opportunity to talk with guest speakers in the legal field who are able to offer insight on any concerns or questions they might have. At the end of the program, students will complete a final project that will summarize their overall summer experiences and outcomes for the program. |
Program Requirements
Students interested in participating in the program must:
§ Possess a minimum 3.0 GPA.
§ Be a full time sophomore or junior student at a four (4) year accredited college or university.

§ Submit a 200-word letter stating candidate's interest in Pre-Professional Law Program

AAAS ENTRY POINT! (www.entrypoint.org), a program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), offers outstanding paid, 10-week internships and semester co-ops in major companies throughout the United States, is a program which places students with disabilities in 10-week summer internships at NASA, IBM, NOAA, Lockheed Martin, Merck, Google, CVS, and NAVAIR.
Entry Point is seeking students, who are full time before and after the internship period and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. They must be majoring in life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and other quantitatively-based fields (e.g. finance and economics).Some business majors may also be placed.
ENTRY POINT! is available to students with disabilities. You must also:
· Be full-time undergraduate or graduate students
· Be a Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or Computer Science major
· Have a 3.0 average GPA (or higher)
· Be a U.S. citizen
If you meet the above criteria, you might be selected for a position this summer where you will benefit from a mentor and receive competitive pay.
