2. Volunteers Wanted for Free Beta Trial of the Revolutionary New SmartPen!

The Pulse Smartpen, an exciting new technology gadget from Livescribe.com, records and links audio to handwritten notes and drawings. Simply, tap on sections of notes with the pen, and the Smartpen replays audio from the exact time of writing. Upload notes and synchronized audio to a computer, and Livescribe's desktop application uses handwriting and voice recognition software to help users run text searches of these files.

Pulse is especially useful for students with disabilities and Livescribe is currently seeking out enthusiastic students with disabilities at Ohio State to give beta versions to as part of their marketing campaign. Eligible students must correspond with the company regularly and participate in a focus group.

If you are interested in receiving a pen or think you'd be a good candidate, contact Zara

Axelrod for more information at axelrod.14@osu.edu. To find out more about the pen, visit www.livescribe.com.

What is Young Adult Transition Corps?

Young Adult Transition Corps (YATC) is a one-of-a-kind AmeriCorps program of the Ohio State University Nisonger Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.  YATC is dedicated to serving young adults with disabilities and their families and promoting successful transitions as these young adults enter adult life.

AmeriCorps/YATC members collaborate with high school students with disabilities to develop ongoing service learning projects.  Members also engage young adults with disabilities in existing educational and community-based programs in the Columbus area that promote community service, community access, and social skill development, three areas critical to successful transition.

Who are YATC members?

YATC members are current college students or recent graduates who have a strong desire to work with people with disabilities and to give back to their community.

What are the benefits of serving with YATC/AmeriCorps?

Members receive a modest living stipend and an education award that can be used toward tuition or student loan payments. The largest benefit for members is the satisfaction of making a difference in their community.
