3. Best Buddies Seeking Mentors!

Best Buddies is an organization dedicated to promoting equality by creating one-to-one friendships between college students, and young adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities.  In the next month college buddies will be paired with buddies based on the information provided from the matching survey.  Before being matched, college buddies must fill out a membership application, matching survey, and be interviewed.  Once you have been matched with a buddy you must maintain that friendship for one school year.  Throughout the year you are required to meet with your buddy twice a month, and contact your buddy once a week through phone, mail, or e-mail.  Best Buddies tries to make this commitment easier by planning group activities once a month.  We have monthly chapter meetings to plan these activities, which you are strongly encouraged to attend.

In order to be matched with a buddy you have to be a full-time undergraduate student from Fall to Spring quarter.  If you are unable to meet these requirements, cannot make the time commitment, or we are unable to match you with a buddy there is always the option of Associate Buddy.  As an Associate Buddy you are unable to have a buddy, but you can still help plan, and participate in all the events.

I hope this is helpful and clear, but if you have any questions at all please e-mail Megan Strahler @ strahler.10@osu.edu.  I know that anyone who joins this program will see that it is worthwhile, and you truly receive more than you could ever imagine just by giving a little of your time.

Besides having several major movie roles to his credit, Belafonte was the first African-American man to win an Emmy. Throughout his career, he has been an outspoken advocate for civil rights and humanitarian causes. His active participation in the human rights struggle is globally respected.
